REVIEW
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
So I have a bit of a random rating system, I go with my instinct. This needs more than 5 Stars. It needs 10 stars. It is the best comedy.
In my real world, the last 10 days have been heavy. This has been THE PERFECT THING to watch..it is hysterical. Genius. Made me nearly fall off the sofa laughing.
Warning there will be more caps locks as I am so excited.
Firstly I have seen and liked Faith Orta in things, and finally,y she has a role that shows everything she can do. Comedy. Timing. Heartfelt. Scared. She is awesome and pulls the whole thing off
This is the best performance I have ever seen from the always-good Mark Vega. PLEASE GIVE THIS MAN LOTS MORE COMEDY ROLES (told you I would shout. Also only if he wants them!) He is so good and delivers most of the comedy whilst still delivering a swoony vert lead, and pulling off easily confused without ever going too stupid. I don't know how he does it. The man is a genius.
I adore Todd Karner who plays Blake from the first moment that he silently appears and gets into Luke's personal space. whoever you are your delivery and facial expressions are impeccable
Blake Shields has a fab short and memorable cameo as Emma's fake boyfriend. We need more of him.
Occasionally there is a tiny lull in the story but then they throw in the perfect solution... firstly Patch Sanderson as Grant. You nearly swayed me. I nearly shipped Grant and Emma over Grant and Luke. And it is soooo much fun watching him slowly wind up Luke and watching Mark Vega's face get more and more thunderous
Then near the end we have the appearance of the best / worst vertical doctor in the history of verticals. Never have the words 'I've read a book' been more terrifying and funny at the same time.
We do have 2 villains who I will tag in the comments.
But this is all about the genius of the writing, the way they keep the misunderstandings going, and the sound effects used in post-production.
I can't remember the last time I laughed this much while watching a film.
💖 Top swoonworthy moment:
I love the makers of this for understanding the effect Mark Vega has on the female population with the reactions of all the diners at that restaurants when he walks in at the beginning. Well played team. But seriously there are some gorgeous moments with Luke and Emma. That poor man, his heart is broken and when he tries the treatment 😢Thank you for giving us a wedding at the end, we needed that.
🦹🏼♂️ Top villain award:
Apart from the standard vert villain of MISUNDERSTANDINGS, the main one is Emma’s dad. He is properly scary, and a shock change of tone when he is on screen. Poor Zoe does try, but thankfully Luke soon deals with her.
😂 Comedy gold:
You know how people write laugh out loud but they didn’t really. NOT HERE. There were at least 3 lots of hysterical laughter that alarmed everyone in my house. By the time Emma dropped her phone down the look I nearly fell off the sofa I was laughing so hard.
🎺 Unsung hero:
Firstly I love Grant, I love Grant so much, For a moment I wavered and shipped Grant and Emma 😱 But then there is Blake, right-hand man Blake is awesome. And I can’t forget Anthony, best fake boyfriend ever.
